Meet our Pastor

2006 with a

was held in the Parish Hall following Mass.
He was born in Rock Chapel County Cork in Ireland. He was ordained in the

appointed to found St. Marks the Evangelist in 1976, dedicating the church
building in December of 1979, with the number of families growing from 400
to 600 during that time.
He was named chairman of the Northeast Urban Deanery, overseeing 15 parishes in 1979, in addition to his own parish work.
In 1987 ,Msgr. Murphy coordinated a fund raising drive that netted $85,000 toward rebuilding a girls school in San Salvador after the areas was hit by an earthquake in October 1986.
As the incoming Pastor, Monsignor Murphy said" I would hope St Peter's will be known as a home for people, and I mean that in all the ways we think of home--a comforting place, a meeting place, a healing place." He continued "People should have a sense of well-received hospitality , and I think we can accomplish that together. That needs to come about with church participation."
