St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church

Mission PDF Print E-mail

It is the mission of the Ministry to provide a way for those with the gift of music to serve our Lord and our community of faith as we come together to celebrate the core, "the summit", of our faith life in the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

“In a church service it is music that best allows the spirit to aspire to the beyond.”
           - Jane Austen

Music is a language that communicates the joy and hope of Christian life.  “...And so with all the choirs of angels and saints, we join in their unending hymn of praise.”  Every time we assemble for liturgy, the language of the rite urges us to join our voices to the divine choral music of the heavenly city.  The principal choir of St. Peter’s is the assembly that gathers to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist and the Liturgy of the Hours.  This great “choir” rings through the church with its Thanks be to Gods, Alleluias, and Amens.  It joins together in the singing of the Lord’s Prayer with fullness and beauty.  It performs the hymns, acclamations, and responses movingly and robustly — filling the resonant space of our beautiful sanctuary in a very real fore-taste of the heavenly choirs.

The choral ensembles of St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church exist to enhance full participation in the liturgy through the sharing of voice and presence, and to inspire our community of faith.
